Kokkola Industrial Park (KIP) is Northern Europe’s largest chemical and metal refining industrial ecosystem, home to several leading international companies.

The area hosts 16 manufacturing companies and about 60 service companies supporting core production operations. These companies employ 2,400 people directly. Kokkola has developed into a strong chemical industry cluster with a group of global companies. Expertise is evident both in the industrial area’s process know-how and in its concentration of education and high-level research.

The Kokkola industrial area covers 700 hectares—nearly the size of 1,000 football fields. The area accommodates multiple operators, and its service offering is extensive and of high quality.

Kokkolan Energia’s electric boiler and district heating storage project progresses

Kokkolan Energia is taking a new step towards carbon neutrality in district heating and industrial steam production by constructing two electric steam boilers and a district heating thermal storage unit at its power plants located in the Kokkola Industrial Park.
