Air Liquide

Air Liquide in Finland

Air Liquide Finland provides comprehensive gas solutions for a wide range of industries. Our delivery modes cover Onsite solutions and Air Separation Units (ASU) located at customer sites, as well as the supply of liquid gases—such as oxygen, nitrogen, and argon—to meet the critical needs of the process industry.

We serve key sectors such as the chemical, metal, food, pulp and paper industries, as well as water treatment. Additionally, our filling plant in Nokia supplies industrial gases for various applications, such as welding, electronics, and laboratories.

Our operating model is built on full-cycle partnership: we support our customers from initial planning, analysis and testing to installation, training, and final process optimization.

Industrial Symbiosis at KIP - Committed to the Future

At Kokkola Industrial Park (KIP), Air Liquide is a prime example of the circular economy and industrial symbiosis in action:

  • Efficiency: Our On-site solutions enable gas delivery via a dedicated pipeline network, minimizing logistical emissions and ensuring reliability.
  • Side streams utilisation: We capture and purify carbon dioxide generated as an industrial byproduct at our recovery plant, turning waste into a valuable resource.

In the Nordics, we help our customers reduce their carbon footprint with solutions like ECO ORIGIN™ gases. Our technologies promote sustainability by for example extending food shelf life, enhancing wastewater treatment, and reducing energy and chemical consumption.

We actively drive a fossil-free society by developing biogas, promoting hydrogen as a future energy source, and advancing Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technologies.

History and Local Presence

Air Liquide was founded in France in 1902 based on the innovation of separating gas molecules from air. We entered the Finnish market in 1993 (acquiring Oy Polargas Ab) and have operated as Air Liquide Finland Oy since 2009. Our roots in Kokkola run deep: our carbon dioxide plant began operations in the KIP area in 1996, followed by the start of oxygen and nitrogen production in 2001.
